Protracted Series: Advanced Gel and Emulsion Capture Filter Bags

In sophisticated industrial processing, standard filters often fail when encountering “tricky” contaminants like gels, soft particles, and emulsions. The Protracted Series liquid filter bag is K Filter’s premier solution, engineered with extended-life needle felt to provide high-capacity depth filtration for the most demanding applications.

Engineered for “Difficult” Contaminants

Traditional filters “blind off” (clog on the surface) when they meet sticky or deformable particles. The Protracted Series solves this through an optimized fiber mix and increased media thickness

“Advanced Matrix Engineering for Non-Newtonian and Deformable Contaminants”

“While standard filters fail when faced with shear-sensitive gels and high-viscosity emulsions, the Protracted Series is purpose-built for the physics of ‘difficult’ fluids. Our gradient-density fiber architecture is specifically engineered to intercept and immobilize deformable particles that typically bypass surface-loading filters. This makes it the definitive choice for sophisticated chemical and biological process streams.”

  • Emulsion & Gel Capture: The deep, tortuous path of the fiber matrix immobilizes soft contaminants, preventing them from extruding or migrating through the media under differential pressure.
  • 2x to 5x Service Life: By utilizing the full depth of the media rather than just the surface, these bags last significantly longer than standard needle felts.
  • Non-Blinding Construction: The specialized fiber density prevents surface loading, ensuring consistent flow rates even in high-dirt environments.
Technical Superiority: Thermal Bonding vs. Traditional Sewing

A filter is only as strong as its seams. The Protracted Series uses our most advanced Thermal Welding Technology to ensure:

  • Extra-Strong Seams: Heat-bonded seams provide superior structural integrity for high-pressure industrial loads.
  • Zero Needle-Hole Bypass: By eliminating threads, we remove the thousands of tiny holes created by traditional sewing needles, ensuring mind-free filtration.
  • Fiber-Free Filtrate: Thermal bonding eliminates loose thread ends and sewing-related fiber migration.

FAQ: Protracted Series Gel & Emulsion Capture

1. How does “Extended-Life” felt differ from standard felt?

Standard felt is thinner and relies heavily on surface capture. Extended-life (LP) felt is thicker with a graded-density fiber mix. This allows particles to be trapped at different depths, preventing the “wall” of dirt that usually stops flow in a standard bag.

2. Are these bags safe for food and pharmaceutical use?

Yes. The Protracted Series is manufactured using materials that meet strict FDA guidelines for food contact. Because they are 100% thermally bonded and thread-free, there is no risk of contamination from additives or loose sewing threads.

3. Why is “Gel Capture” so difficult for other filters?

Gels are deformable. Under pressure, a gel particle will change shape and “squeeze” through the holes of a standard mesh or thin felt bag (a process called extrusion). The Protracted Series has a thick, dense matrix that “locks” the gel in place, making it impossible for it to migrate through to the clean side.

4. Can I use these in my existing filter housing?

Absolutely. The Protracted Series is available in all standard global sizes and is compatible with most industrial filter vessels used in the USA, Europe, and the Middle East.

5. What is the recommended change-out pressure?

To maximize the “Extended Life” benefits, we recommend changing the bag when the differential pressure reaches 1.5 to 2.0 bar. Because of the depth construction, the flow will remain more stable than standard bags even as it nears capacity.

What is the micron rating available in Protracted series?

For the Protracted Series (Extended-Life) Gel and Emulsion Capture Filter Bags, the micron ratings are strategically selected to balance depth-loading capacity with high-precision particle retention.

Because these bags are designed for “difficult” contaminants like gels and sticky emulsions, the fiber matrix is denser and thicker than standard bags. They are available in the following range for the Middle East, Europe, and USA markets:

Standard Micron Ratings: Protracted Series

Filtration GradeAvailable Micron Ratings (µm)Best Use Case
High Precision1, 5, 10Capturing micro-gels in pharmaceutical and high-end chemical processes.
Fine Clarification25, 50Removing emulsions from food oils and industrial coatings.
General Purpose75, 100High-dirt loading for resins, adhesives, and paints.
Primary/Coarse150, 200Heavy-duty pre-filtration for viscous liquids like syrups and raw chemicals.
